That's unfortunate :( I just had my 350 rebuilt, came out to a hair under $2300. They re-used my heads and crankshaft though, guessing they could probably reuse many of your components. Problem is the Vortec rebuild kits cost quite a bit more than the old carb 350 kits.

I think whoever started your truck up and took off with it should pay for a new motor.

And yes, new motor. I don't think I'd rebuild that current one myself.

That is a new drop in stock replacement and an excellent choice get the premium felpro manifold gasket set and move everything over. Break it in and bingo. After 10k switch to Mobil synthetic. By oem lower block HD reached 245k and still reads 153 psi compression.

Put a socket on the crank bolt with a breaker bar and see if you can spin the engine over. That is the best way to see if it`s seized up. You could remove the spark plugs too so there will be no compression making it easier to turn over.

If it`s stuck, Time for a replacement engine.

Why not run synthetic right off the bat?

rings need time to seat nice in the cylinder walls could start it at 5k really but most of what i read says fuel mileage improves around 10k. so that should be ideal.
