Oil filter, STUCK.

^^^this is exactly the reason why I switched to K&N oil filters on the Burb because they come with the nut on the bottom which makes them infinitely easier to get on and off. The 07+ rides are a PITA to get on and off too because of the filter being kind of nustled up again the oil pan so it's hard to get them tight enough and hard to get them off so now I spent a few extra bucks for the K&N filter.

Try using a Wix 57502. It's just a deeper version of the OE filter. That'll allow you save a few bucks and solve your filter placement problem.

Another option is to try to get your hands on the adapter the PPV and SSV Tahoes use and do the engine oil cooler conversion. That'll drop the filter a little bit too. I'm thinking about doing this myself. I haven't tried the Wix 57502 filter yet. It will happen on the next oil change though.

I'm just wondering who taught you guys to change oil that you are installing the filter so tight that it cannot be removed with an oil filter strap wrench like the one above. My shop has two quick lube bays and we do about 20-40 oil changes per day. I see alot of oil filters that have been cranked on. There are directions on the filter box which tell you to oil the filter gasket and hand tighten until the gasket meets then turn approx. 3/4 of a turn if you follow these simple instructions you wouldn't have that much difficulty removing the filter in 3,000 miles.

P.S. put the screw driver in on an angle to pierce opposite sides to get good leverage and not rip the side apart like a beer can...learned that the hard way.
