Oil leak?

I've got an 07 LT with 4WD that I've noticed a couple spots in my driveway where I notice drops of oil. It's got 81,000 miles and I just bought it with78,500 on it

Are there "typical" spots with these that it could be coming from? Haven't had time to crawl up under there yet and looking to get a better idea before I do. Thanks in advance for any help!

Bump to this post...I have an 07 LTZ that just rolled over 48,000 miles. Noticed a very small drop of oil in the garage this morning on the drivers side. Haven't had a chance to look under it yet. Are there any TSBs for pan gaskets, etc?

Rear main seal and there is a spot above the oil filter prone to leak on these. My mechanic who works for GM fixed the leak above the oil filter. He said they are common. When I found the leak he knew exactly what it was.

On our PPV, there is a housing that comes off the oil filter housing on the driver's side of the block. It's held on by two bolts. On the PPV, that housing is replaced by the oil cooler mounting bracket. There's a plug on the back side of that housing that's sealed by an o-ring. The o-ring started leaking right after we took delivery of our vehicle. Picture here:



I had to remove part of the torque converter cover so I could get that plug out, and replaced the o-ring with a viton o-ring (the green ones) used in A/C systems. So far, so good.

Without a cooler, I think there's just an aluminum housing there. It's sealed by a gasket that's held in position by the two bolts.

That's on the driver's side of the engine back by the transmission. Off of the lower left corner of that picture is the oil filter.

Remember, though, this is a PPV, which has an external oil cooler. Your truck may not have this block with the plug and lines coming off of it, but there IS a block of some sort that bolts to the side of the engine above the oil filter on these engines. Sometimes they have cooling lines coming off of them, sometimes an oil pressure sending unit, sometimes, it's just a block-off.
