Got the AC Delco gasket today and the aluminum Holley front cover. Will start pulling apart again tomorrow.

The gasket is all one price though. The corners is where some put RTV. Gasket said not to. So i didnt. Probably should have listened to my instinct added it for belt and suspenders. But I also read that the rtv wouldn't adhere to the FelPro gasket and so wouldn't do me any good.
Your pan is going to leak. Did you look at any instructions, YouTube videos etc? The RTV is NEEDED no matter whose gasket you use, and everybody does it, not some. It goes at the places where there’s a gap where the front and rear covers meet the gasket ( they’re ALL one- piece gaskets not just Fel Pro) The RTV fills in those 4 gaps. It doesn’t need to stick to the gasket, it’s there to fill in those 4 voids. Without it there’s 4 voids that WILL leak.

I have the same problem with my truck leaking. I changed the valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket and oil cooler line gaskets as well. Use the rtv in the corners. Only thing I have leaking still is the oil line cooler gasket and that’s because the screws won’t “tighten up”. Think I may have over torqued them and now doesn’t want to hold in. May have to purchase new oil pan and try again.

Got it Rocket. Said I'm dropping it and adding RTV. Don't need to continue to beat the dead horse.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you did it a second time and still didn’t add the RTV. My bad! :sorry:

The last one had RTV and leaked. Also a Felpro gasket. This time I did it without as the FelPro said none is needed and the rtv may not stick. Which is what I thought was the problem with the first. I'm going to use the AC Delco gasket with black rtv now. Found some other posts about people not having great luck with felpro in this application. Also read the doorman chain co we can be the issue, so swapping that too.

It's a good truck. A little money to keep it on the road is well worth it.

Yeah I don’t use Dorman parts in critical areas or for anything hard to replace. You’re just using the RTV at the 4 small spots correct?
