My 04 Tahoe 4wd needs an oil pan gasket. My question is that my truck has a 6 inch suspension lift on it.Does anyone know if that makes the job easier?

Only thing you will have to worry about is the cross member under the pan and the front diff. If they are low enough, you will not have to remove or lower them down.

Yeah- you probably don't need to put it on jackstands.

Lol! Yeah I get that but was just wondering how much clearance I would need to get the pan clear of the crank shaft
Clearing the crankshaft is not the issue. You will more than likely still have to remove the crossmember and lower the front diff to change the gasket.

You actually might be OK without dropping the front diff, I had to drop mine about 3" for the pan to clear the crank. Only way to tell for sure is try. The crossmember will still need to come off I believe. Just have to get under there and do it.

If your lift is one of those that relocates the whole IFS down, then you might not need o move the diff. I just did this on my stock 02 tahoe and I barely got the pan out having unbolted the diff and pulled it down some.

Easiest way to tell is to just look at it. If there's not at least 6" of room between the pan and diff then you gotta drop it.

Can you fill us in on what had to happened with the front diff? I am about to change my oil pan gasket on a 4x4 Tahoe Z71 and have been reading the front differential must be dropped to provide enough clearance in removing the oil pan.
