If anyone uses PF46E oil filters and notices there oil pressures drop a bit after around 2,000 miles the problem is most likely the filter. I have been experiencing this & changing to a wix filter (I went with the XP) I haven’t noticed this problem again. Pretty sure there is also a TSB about this but figured I would share because it is a weird thing that happened with the last 3 Delco filters I used. So long GM filters! Can’t even make Those right anymore.

My 05 gets the WIX 51522XP long filter and holds a steady 40 psi oil pressure at idle. I have been using WIX filters for at least 35 years with no problems.

i went with the 51042XP for the first try, used valvoline synthetic blend 5W30 since I got the truck at 97,000. Approaching 195K now

Curious as to why you used a different filter than what is recommended for your truck? I'm intrigued if it would perform better.

Longer filter holds more oil and filters more oil with the larger filter element. It will not prolong time between oil changes though.

Plenty of clearance on my 05 Z71 5.3L. It is only about 1" longer. There are a few threads here about this as well.
