So the gauge went dead- registered 0 and I got a CEL. I pulled the code on the CEL and got the following message- oil pressure voltage high- out of range- maybe not exactly but something to that effect.
Thanks to this forum, I read the "how to" information and changed the oil pressure sending unit/sensor. Boo-yah... BUT when I restarted my truck, the gauge pegs to its' max for about 10 seconds and then drops back to 0 and I get the CEL again.
The engine is a GM crate motor (not a rebuild- stone cold new engine) with about 10,000 miles on it that has had nothing but Mobile One in it for the last 8500 miles. Oil pressure is not a likely issue.
Did I make an error in the replacement of the oil pressure sending unit? Get a bad sender? Is it something else?
Thanks all for the help.
