So I finally got my oil pressure socket on and the thing won't budge. I sprayed a little wd40 on it. Was gonna try using a breaker bar for more leverage, but I'm afraid if I crank it too hard it will break. Any suggestions?

I don't know how you guys do it... I have normal size girl hands and had a b**ch of a time getting to the sensor.

TIA

If all else fails, pulling the intake manifold was easier than I thought it would be. The only real trick is to bleed the pressure off the fuel rail using the Schrader valve before trying to disconnect the fuel line.

Having girl-sized hands is a definite plus for getting it out without needing to pull the intake though. The only reason I needed to pull it is because my hands are grizzly bear sized.

Got it off! But now... There was no filter attached to the sensor. I'm thinking it's stuck in there. Found a video where a guy used a M8 1.25 x 50 to screw in and remove filter. Tried that... Bolt just spins. ☹️ I think if I remember correctly his vehicle was a Suburban. I have a 2007 Tahoe LS 4.8 if that helps.

I also saw a video where a guy used a little hook... But worried about effin up the filter or the threads.

Is it possible there is/was no filter. The car was pre-owned?

I used the screw method to remove mine. I did have to press down pretty good while Turing the screw to get it to thread into the screen. If you're replacing the screen don't worry about damaging it.

Also, for some reason I thought the screen was introduced after the AFM systems (V8 to V4 mode) came out. Does yours have AFM? If not, it may not have a screen.

EDIT: attached pic of filter. The framing is made of hard plastic, so when using a bolt into the top of it, you are actually creating threads into the plastic for it to bite into. 20210629_172759.jpg

First off.... Thank you everyone for all the help! Really appreciated!

So after looking up what AFM is , I found this video:

How to tell if your LS has AFM (Active Fuel Management) - YouTube

Looking at my engine looks like I don't have AFM? See pic below.

Just gonna keep trying.

Definitely wasn't putting enough pressure to thread plastic... Thanks for the explanation. Will just order new screen if I eff this one up.
