Ok, Someone school me on epicenters

I have read little about what they do but i cant any good info about them are they for increasing sq, spl, or both or neither? pros cons anything like that will be very uselful.

the one in particular i am looking at is the audio control epic-160 for those who want to know

they are for increasing the feeling of bass. definitely not SQ. the 160 was fun for the spl meter built in but that was about it, IMO.

I'd rather have a good 9 band or 5 band EQ.

so basically there's not much point in having one because you can do the same stuff and more with an equalizer...that's what i figured but i wasn't sure...thanks for the info, what are some good equalizers out there?
