@donkey. Ok thanks for the info. I'm going to search for your thread.

Just to clarify my rim cost would only be $650. $250 for rims and $400 for prep & powder coating versus $1150 brand new.

$1500 is with brand new tires.

make sure you sand the chrome down b4...I know on older rims, peeling chrome usually = leakage...you don't a slow leak due to a bad seal because of bad chrome

sounds like a sick deal

Yeah I would definitely sandblast and powder coat for best results. $1500 for wheels and tires is a sick deal.

sandblasting chrome only to powdercoat over it isn't going to give you a very smooth surface. Best way to do it is dip the wheels and have all the chrome removed. But that is alost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I'd steer clear, but that's just my opinion.

ah shhhnap, this is dashing my hopes here haha. Thanks for looking out for a fellow TYFer tho. I'm not very knowledgable on the blasting or powder coating process. When I was told by the powder coater that the chrome would be need to be sand blasted before powder coating so I assumed it would be good. I didn't know this would affect the end all result.

And the leaking thing seems like a risk.

Boo!

Im gonna use mine for winter rims so I could care less about the pitting and chrome. You can't really see it on my rims but if your meticulous about little things, don't do it. Or you could use the as winter rims as well. I mean, its a hell of a deal just for a spare set to have.
