I had a 1997 Tahoe that ate brakes. I was replacing front pads every 7,500 miles and rotors every 15,000. I tried multiple brake brands and pad compositions with basically the same results. It was driven about 45 miles daily (total) in heavy stop and go traffic over somewhat hilly terrain. Other than that I had zero engine problems other than replacing a tensioner pulley.

Glad to hear others had bad experiences with the brakes. Now I know that mine wasn’t just a fluke.

07-14 Yukon's sure do have ugly headlights but I love the rest of the body lines. Would rather have a Chevy front end.
Have to agree. GMC didn't "surpass" the Chevy until the K2s in terms of front end appeal. I absolutely loved my 08 Avalanche. I was so pissed they weren't making a K2 Avy. But I succumbed and bought the 'Burb. The 08 Avy without the body cladding of the 800's IMO was a perfect blend of rugged yet clean appearance. Def still my fav body style thus far.

Although there is a small place in my heart for my dad's old 92 Silverado. The OBS with the smoothed out rectangular headlights was such a nice look.

Had a 2003 that was beautiful but a lemon. Brakes didn't work. It was actually dangerous. Was able to replace it with an 04 at no cost to me. It never gave me any trouble. Loved the body and was very comfortable. I presently own a 1997 2 door. Much different truck. Rides like a truck. The brakes we're also worthless to the point of being dangerous. Replaced the fronts with slotted, larger rotors, larger calipers and a new later model master cylinder. Night and day difference. If I had to choose I'd take the 2000-2005 models. Just a better truck though I love the two door styling and wish they had continued into the newer models.

Front fenders, hood, headlights, grille, bumper cover, don' think it's much more complicated than that.
I'm thinking of finding a trashed Chevy with a good front end just for the front end. All it takes is money right.

Wife drives a 2014 Avalanche Black on Black. Last year made. Has 132k on it.

Hey guys, I have an 03 and like the truck quite a bit. Wonder what everybody’s opinions on the previous generation with the 350? I do like the older body style. Just curious as to what people see as the major chants and upgrades with the 800.
Each generation is less "truckish" than the prior. I owned 1 Burb, 2 Tahoes, 3 trucks from the '96 to '99 group. I loved them all. Then, I owned 4 of the 2000-'03 group, all 1500 trucks, and they were more comfortable, better mileage, just as dependable. All of both groups were 4WD. The only one I did not like was the 2003 6.0 because it was a horrid gas hog, and no quicker than any of my others.

Honestly, each generation is better in most regards, and each gen. has its glitches. After all of those, I had two late-model Corvettes, and a Porsche Cayenne S. In the next few weeks, I will be going back to a 2003 Tahoe, mostly because they are so dependable, and easy to work on. The late-model stuff was not easy, and the Cayenne was a nightmare to repair anything (but it sure runs like H!)

I had an ‘05 GMC… we were moving… and it started to rain.. i was in a hurry - looked down and was doing 95 mph with a trailer loaded with move items.. i do like the 5.3… i have re-built several 350’s… not really impressed with them.. i can only say the seats in the ‘05 are a lot better than my ‘24 yukon…
