Id just like to get some of your guys opinion on the parts i was recommended. I trust the guy...but always like more opinions.

were assuming the trans is stock and never serviced since there are no records to be found. as of now the transmission is slipping (240,000 miles) when its cold and under heavy load but will get you around..puttin around lol. I told the supplier that I wanted a transmission that would be well suited for pulling a car and trailer..and well just never have to worry about messing with it again.

-Pump rotor kit
-teflon coated pump bushing
-sonnax sure cure kit
-high performance overdrive band
-4l60e raybestos master with steel high engery
-new converter. he builds converters and says while this one is still "stock" the tolerances are much better and it should drive much better
-hardened sun shell-sonnax pro shell, heard good things on ls1tech
-deep 4x4 late 4l60e filter
1-2 and 3-4 solenoid
tcc solenoid
EPC solenoid
3-2 downshift solenoid
fiber pan gasket

What do you guys think?

parts were 730, the sonnax upgrades and solenoids jumped the prices up. Im helping my friend buy the sonnax reamer tool...so hes not charging me any actual labor since ill be helping do the rebuild. but id figure after everything is said and done...should be $900 total for a "built" trans

Whoa your 4L60e lasted till 240K before giving issues?? Are you sure?? That has to be a record ...

I prefer the rubber gaskets with the compression stops built in, also a huge fan of the deep finned pans. You should get a bigger after market cooler as well ... I would do a shift kit during the rebuild process as well.

The sonnax kit comes with different valves and most likely the plates(have to check)

I'm not sure if it's ever been rebuilt. Without records, no honest idea, it dosnt have any reman stickers on it that I can see. Won't know till we crack it open i guess.

I was advised against a shift kit with the sonnax going in. Guy told me to get a tune, suppose to be better. Always a debate when it comes to trans tune vs shift kit on ls1tech. The truck has the z71 external cooler, looks fairly big, not much small if any then the b&m I run on my SS. I was thinking about a pan though.

Thanks for the replays guys

A shift kit is goign to address mechanical deficiencies inside the trans ... the tune will up line pressure to make it shift herder. Two different things ...

Sonnax VB upgrade is suppose to address a bunch of issues. I brought up a shift kit when I was getting a package together, he didn't see it as a need. I'd looked through the sonnax kit manual...tbh don't know what it does other then does amazing things. Sucks being a noob with internals of a transmission

Here is a link to the sonnax kit
