Seems to me the flexplate was the same. I know I just replaced mine and the only question was internally balanced or external. They didn't seem to care what transmission it was hooked to.

If you check into it with the transmission people, I think you will find that your transfer case can be modified. They use the same chain and all, just the input shaft and rear seal change. Maybe it's different with the manual, but I remember it not being a big deal.

If you can get the pin out info, I think you could make the changes at the end of the harness that plugs into the ECM. You should not have to mess with both ends of the cable. :)

I returned the 4L80e, and had a 4L65E SS Mega Monster built instead.

("It is ideal for vehicles powered by 4.8, 5.3, LS1, or 6.0L engines producing up to 650 horsepower with a non-nitrous system using pump gasoline.") =D

I'll be picking it up Thursday. I didn't want to go through with all the swapping that I'd have to do with the 80e. Sorry guys. But I have a question, how many bolts go on the bell housing on a 4L60E, 4 or 5?

If anybody knows what I'm talking about. I'd really appreciate an answer, it would help a lot. To me it looks like there are 5. But I cannot be sure without getting it on a lift.

You really should get a tranny cooler, the stock radiator is not good enough like stated above. Especially if you will be mudding / racing. I did not have a tranny cooler on my 96 and installed a tranny temp gauge, I soon learned that while mudding and messing around the fluid temperature was way above what is should be. I installed a cooler and it would stay one consistent temperature.

If you do get one, remember to utilize the stock radiator cooling part of it, then run it to your tranny cooler than back to the tranny. If you go to the cooler first then the radiator there is no point in even having a cooler.

Also, when buying a cooler do not go too large, just look for one that is rated for a vehicle one weight class heavier than you're truck and that will do the trick. Some people put huge ones on, and their fluid stays too cold for too long, resulting in the tranny /converter to not go into "lock up."

Thanks for the input "The-Hoe" I do plan to run a tranny cooler because I do plan to run it hard at times, and It'll have the floor shifter and I would like to be able to keep it in gear at high rpm's at times and keeping it cool is the factor but keeping it lubricated is also important. But for the time being I'll be running Schaeffer's Supreme synthetic transmission fluid which is tried and true. This is a budget build, and when funds become available they will be put towards the truck. I should get the transmission in next week, monday or tuesday. I really need somebody to answer my question though,

"How many bolts go on the bell housing on a 4L60E, 4 or 5? If anybody knows what I'm talking about, I'd really appreciate an answer, it would help a lot. To me it looks like there are 5. But I cannot be sure without getting it on a lift. "

there should be 6 2 on each side and 2 on the top of the tranny

so 6 total

Hummm, maybe I'm asking the wrong thing. I'll have to call monster transmissions and ask more specifically, what they need to know. Were trying to figure out if a 4L65E is gonna mount up to my truck? Anybody know?!

Is it just me or do you change you mind a lot?

There are six bolts for sure holding the trans to the engine block and sometimes they use a seventh bolt at the very top. The later model 4L80e tranny's had the top position open for the seventh bolt. The older cases are blank at the top.

In other words the seventh bolt is optional. if you get a trans with a bolt hole there, fill it with a bolt. lol
