Has anybody installed an Ox Locker in an 07-14 Tahoe, or other GMT900 model, with 3.42 gears? I have researched it a bit and was told at some point that the diff housing has a unique shape, especially in the 'classic' models, that doesn't allow for this locker, or makes install very difficult?

Any info on this matter is appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you called the manufacturer? Looks like they are in Florida.

The website just differentiates between 28 spline (older 10 bolt axle) and 30 spline. Doesn't mention anything else.

I don't have any experience with OX Lockers, but have always thought they are cool. I wish they made them on the GM 14 bolt. Not sure why don't make that model because that's a super popular axle with the off road crowd. That's not here nor there tho.

Please keep us updated on what you go with.

I have not. I will look into that.

Yes, from all my research, I really like the concept of the Ox over all the rest - and I prefer the idea of the manual lever option as opposed to the E or Air version. (Pretty sure they offer all 3 now).

Turn it on/off when you choose, no E or Air to ever fail at the worst time.

I have read that the manual lever cable needs to be adjusted from time to time, but that's something you could do on the trail in a pinch, I believe, and if all else fails, you have the option of manually screwing a bolt into the diff to activate the locker in a worst case scenario.

Love it, but it's $$$ and I'm still unsure if they can be installed on my 07 Classic diff. I'll try and contact them and update here.

I had an Ox locker in the front of my '98 TJ Wrangler, it was fantastic. Never bound up, no special fluids, etc. Having said that, the rear of a (assuming) street-going tahoe seems like an odd application for it. I'd go gear-based limited slip over anything in this, eg Eaton Detroit Trutrac. (Are you sure you don't already have the factory G80 Limited slip diff?)

Did OP say he was placing it in the rear diff? Seems like the front would be the better location with the G80 already in the back, assuming it had that option.

Looking back no, I guess I just assumed. Agreed that front would be a better application, but even then, I'd say LSD for there too especially with "auto" 4wd being a thing on these.

I wish I knew more about the front diff (or any diff, really) specs. and interchangability, but if there was a G80 that fit in the front case it probably would have already been written about.

what is your build so far? lift? bigger tires? otherwise there is really no point in trying to fit a controllable locker it likely won't provide any real benefit.
and if you do have a lift and bigger tires 3.42 is probably the minimum to start with.
around here the trails are pretty tight and are jeep trails, trying to fit a suv thru is likely to end with body damage.
