I have posted a previous thread concerning my 02 sensors and finally got one today because the truck took a major stumble at a stop light in 5 o'clock traffic. I said enough is enough, got one sensor (before cats) and removed both of the old ones to inspect both for carbon deposits and other contamination. They both appear to be with natural wear and tear with a black base, grayish white tip with a red color on the engine side of the sensor. Put the new sensor in the driver side bank (before cat) and left the old one in the passenger side and so far it seems to be running much better.
One more quick point, I got the truck with 173k miles and I am now at 210k. I never replaced the 02 sensors and upon inspection the are both exactly the same sensor with matching wire colors and identical wear and deposits..
My question is (being I have no idea who the previous owner was) is there a chance these are the original 02 sensors??
The old sensors have 2 brown, 1 tan and 1 purple wire where as the new plug has 2 white wires, 1 grey and 1 black wire. Either they were replaced about the same time many miles ago or they are original.
Does anyone know what the original wire colors were??
The code on the old plug is AFS 105 AC (the AC is encircled which prolly means AC Delco).
