Hello all,

I have an issue here that I'm having troubles solving. I just bought my 2007 Yukon Xl Denali with 133,000 miles on it. I haven't been able to run the gas pump for longer than 5 seconds at a time to put gas on and just the other day I got the P0446 code. I knew the previous owner drove a lot on gravel roads so I figured the evap vent solenoid was plugged so I replaced that. I was able to dump dirt out of the line from the old one so I'm sure it was bad. However, I still cannot fill the tank and I still have P0446.

Any idea what else it could be? Could the canister be plugged too? Are they tough to replace?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Make sure the vent line/filter are installed properly, or you may still have issues. Did you run the line up the filler tube so that the filter was as high up as possible? I replaced mine last summer and the problem has pretty much been solved. Certain types of gas pumps still make it act finicky on occasion, but most of the time it's fine. Disconnect your negative battery terminal for a half hour or so and that should reset the CEL and clear the code. It shouldn't come back, but if it does, jump back on here and let us know.

Thanks for the fast reply!

I did route the vent up right near the filler neck and zip tied it up there. I realized I didn't say what brand I got. I got an AC Delco brand and had to buy the bridge connector as well since they changed the plug in. It was very to install and I don't think there was anyway for me to install it wrong. They hardest part was the dang spare tire haha. I have tried a few different stations for filling up and had the same results.

I cleared the code by unhooking the battery for about half an hour. I drove around a couple of miles and tested filling up again. I still couldn't run it for very long without it stopping on me. If I run it less than a trickle, it goes in, bit I'm talking about about a gallon per minute max.

Still no check engine light, but I still can't fill up at any station without it clicking off every few seconds. I'm thinking canister, but anyone have any thoughts?
