Hi all,

Once in a blue moon like every year or so, the CEL would come on and I would get code P0464 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Intermittent. Does it mean that I will have to change the fuel sending unit? Anyone have experience replacing this part? How easy is it to drop the gas tank? And is it a good idea to replace the fuel pump also since the gas tank is on the ground? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. And stay safe out there.

If you are dropping the tank, I would replace the whole pump, it comes with the sensor. At least the one I had did. I replaced the pump, my gauge works perfect now. It used to read low fuel sometimes if I was parked anything but perfectly level.

Thanks, it makes total sense to change the whole pump. How hard was it to drop the tank?

5/10 I guess. I was able to do it by myself in the driveway. I drive the back up on ramps and used my floor jack and some wood to support and lower the tank. The lines were the hardest part really. Watch some YouTube videos, make SURE you get all the lines free etc. I was able to plan this, so it ran it as low on gas as possible. It would’ve sucked with a full tank lol.

^^^ Agree with @treehan77. From personal experience, the lines on top of the tank are easier to see and get to if you remove the driveshaft. Not necessary, though.
