96 Yukon gasser throwing intermittent p1345. I know i need a scan tool to check distributor adjustment. Is the Autel Maxscan GS500 a good enough scanner? Would i need to get extra software to perform test? If its a POS and i shouldnt bother, got any recommendations?

it is important that for this measurement you call the scanner maker and ask them to confirm that it does. otherwise someone will point out which one they have that will work i myself use a pc-based system right now. scanxl pro with the gm add-on with an obd2 usb hardware interface.

btw when checking and adjusting engine rpm for a '96 must be 1000rpm. can go a little higher but above 1500rpm is not needed. give you room for play if someone is pressing on the pedal with an old throttle cable.
