So my Service Engine Soon light came on yesterday and I just scanned it for the code and came up with P1416-Unidentified Error code. Does anyone know what this one means? I've read I could need to replace a valve? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys

For some reason I think I've seen that code before and it was an EGR valve but I could be wrong on that. If you go to AutoZone or O'Reilly's and have them run the code they should be able to print out what the code is and what part is causing the issue. That's a free service they offer.

2nd air injection system.

there is a tube running from manifold to a one way valve, if the computer senses air the wrong way, then it trips the light. They ran 40 bucks each for the valve last time I bought them 2-3 years ago. easy to replace, find a tube running from manifold with a large hex on valve, replace them both, reset light.

I just got mine lit up the other day, scanned it and same thing. they get moisture in them and go bad, rubber one way valve wears out easy. I have 157,000 miles on mine and only replaced them once. I did clean them out once and it helped but it's easier to replace them at that price.

The 2nd air injection shoots cold air into exhaust for emissions, there is a fan that sounds like a hair dryer. It's mounted on the passenger side of the fender area. Also check tubing for leaks and what not.

Sorry for bumping an old thread...

This just happened to me last night. Was wondering if I need to replace the Air Injection Control Valve, or the Air Injection Check Valve. Or should I replace both at the same time?

I have a P1416 trouble code on my Tahoe as well. Was able to get the following print out on it:
Air pump electrical circuit fault
blocked Air System
Failed air pump

Inspection of the systems showed the following conditions:
Air Pump is mounted on the passenger side finder. It is not running.
Removed the output hose from the pump and found no air flow or preasure at idle speed.
Will next check the voltage into the motor. If voltage is present I will replace the motor.
If no voltage then it will be time to have the machanic look at it. (I don't have schematics)
I am told that if the air pump is bad it probably indicates that one or both exhaust check valves failed and will need to be replaced as well. They are located on either side of the engine in the air pump lines to each manifold.

P1416 is 'AIR System Bank 2'

I clear my codes, shut off 'engine' light and I can go for months before it comes back on. I'm told A.I.R. check valves.
