haha i tried that for my sedan when i got a scratch. their guarantee is a joke and they never got it close either. i eneded up giving up coloring postcards and sending to them, waiting weeks and then doing it again

Just my $0.02.

I have used automotivetouchup.com for 3 separate color match projects over the last year. Spray cans myself and 2 quart cans in the shop a few months apart. The color has been spot on even in different batches. I have Dark Ming Blue Metallic.

Here are the colors that come up with with your year truck. Maybe give it another go? Good luck.

i am going by the code in the glove box, which according to Dulpi-Color is called Olympic White. I see no mention of any Summit White (in DupliColors system anyway). I might try "Arctic White", i need something a shade "whiter". This Olympic White is just a hair yellowish, not stark ass white like my truck seems to be, have you had anything painted on your truck using Summit White and whered you get Summit White from? paint code in glove box is 8624

In Duplicolors application guide, for ALL years, there is no "Summit White" Is there another company like DupliColor that i would be able to readily find that has this mystery Summit White color?

Oops, My bad. Apparently summit white and Olympic white is the same color. However under most places its called Olympic white..

Sorry about that.

I painted cars professionally for almost 15 years. I got out of it because a friend got cancer and it kind of freaked me out. But anyways, rattle can clears aren't very good. They don't offer the film thickness, UV protection, or gloss level that even a lower end catalyzed clear can provide. And as you found out they are pretty yellow, and it gets worse with time. Even some automotive clears have a yellow tinge to them.

You could possibly try to scuff them and spray them white again, and let them sit a few days to let all the solvents gas out. The O'reilly's close to me sells Nason automotive paints, it's DuPont's lower end line but it's pretty good. A quart of clear and activator should be less than $40. Carefully scuff your parts with a scotchbrite pad, be careful not to tear the paint. Keep the first coat light, and watch for any lifting. It's kind of a crapshoot when spraying over rattlecan paint. If it stays down you should be ok. You can tell you're ready for another coat when you touch the paper your part is on and the clear is slightly sticky to the touch, but isn't wet or stringy. Spray two wet coats on it & you're good to go.

well i got a pint of olympic white mixed from the automotive paint supply shop here locally. gonnna use a little bottle with a spray applicator on it. also got some 1k clear spray to go over it. the mixed paint LOOKS white, hopefully this time it will match close. still can't decide why duplicolors is so far off, even the cap isn't really white from different stores/lots etc. wish me luck. the pint of paint, spray bottle thing and can of clear was $50. actually not that much more than the cans of duplicolor i am getting a refund on, so if it matches close, itll be worth it.

I've gone through hoops over the years with a match of Summit White on my 1997 Tahoe with two different touch up paint companies, the last being Dr Colorchip.

It appears from what research I've done that there is actually two different paint hues out there, and this mix up appears pretty much unsolvable through the efforts I've gone through.

That one hue of Summit White (the original factory color of my Tahoe) appears very whitish, and the other looking more greyish to my eyes. Oddly, per the paint code, dupicolor, and dealer bought touch up was the correct hue, the whiter hue of the two.

I had to send off the duplicolor bottle to Dr Colorchip to get a closer, and better match.

As I understand it, over the past 25-30 years, GM has used this specific paint code on many different vehicles, cars, trucks, suvs.

It might be who the paint manufacturer themselves are who make the paint, such as PPG, etc.

Paints codes have variants. So although the paint code is correct yours could be the yellower flop for example. You have to know the correct variant to be able to order and get the right one. Go to a body shop that does ppg. Let them pull the code up and you guys can figure which is the right variant. Buy the paint from them. Most shops will sell you paint.
