Step one, have a red factory logo:

Step 2, mask it off using green frog tape and cover everything as well as possible. Spend extra time here...the end result is only as good as your prep...

Step 3, apply three or four light coats of gloss black painter/primer spray paint carefully. Leave plenty of dry time between coats.

Step 4, peel off carefully and use clay bar if any overspray on grill or bumper:

Thanks guys, I'm working towards a black & white theme.

But yea - you can buy the black GMC replacement badges on amazon and other places, but they're $150+.

I'm into this small mod for $4 in spray paint + $6 for tape and about an hour of tinkering around.

Looks awesome.

I'm using black overlays but as soon as they deteriorate, I'm going to follow your lead and paint them.

I got back and front for like $90 on Ebay. The OEM. Not the plastic.
Here are some more goodies for your
PO PO theme...

Sweet truck AngelXL! Thanks for sharing your link and all the info. I'm heading in the direction you've already gone with your monochromatic Yukon XL. Is yours Summit White too? Personally I love that vs. the tri-coat. Had to look for a couple of months to find a summit white Denali XL.
