Painting Chrome

Has anyone here had any degree of success in painting over chrome? I got my hands on a spare set of Hummer H3 wheels. I plan to mount them on my '99 Yukon.......Just not into the chrome bling myself :supergay:

it's very hard if you don't know what you're doing. some people suggest taking the better route and having the rims sandblasted before you paint them. that cuts down all of the chrome. another way is sanding them down by hand, with different grits until there is no more shine. then the paint comes in.

you need to sand them down then get some self etching primer then follow by reg. primer

i need to repaint the wagon wheels i got. got em painted black but were orig chrome. also ive thought about getting h3 wheels on mine so post pics when you get em mounted up!
