I'm considering getting the grey part of the bumper painted black on my 07 Z71 Tahoe. While I'm at it, I think I'll have the inserts of the grill painted as well, and the bow-tie. I want to keep the outer ring of the grill insert chrome. Am I better off buying a new grill that's already done this way or having mine painted? If having it painted, it shouldn't be painted the same type of black paint that's on the rest of the vehicle, right?

That glare or the headlights oxidized?

Yes, the headlights are oxidized. Do you know a product that restores them and lasts? Everytime I'd polish the lights on my old Tacoma they'd just go right back to the way they were before in a few weeks. I'm also thinking about getting some black ones like the IPCW Black Halo.

Any thoughts on the grill & bumper?

Just replace them

Or better

Get a HID retrofit done.

The lower bumper painted body color is a common Z modification.

You should do it imo

The grille is chrome. Paint does not stick well to it.

After looking at some pics by others who have painted the bumper I have decided I will definitely do it. I will probably also re-paint the black piece around the grill since its full of bug scars and the hood since it has some sap scars.

What about the grill and bow-tie? I want them black but still want the chrome around the edges. Should I be looking for OEM grill already done this way? What are others doing with theirs? I don't want/need anything fancy... just don't really know where to look. I'm guessing the bow-tie would have to be painted. I'm not interested in plastidip for either.

You can paint the chrome and the bowtie. For both, prep work is VERY important. You need to sand them until it's dull, clean that off, apply adhesion promoter, then primer, then paint and it'll last. I didn't use adhesion promoter when I did mine and the only chip I have it b/c it got hailed on and chipped off one part of the chrome. The rest is solid (as of a year later).
