Painting my grille

So today i bought the color match paint a quart of it some primer some clear some thiner / reducer all the goods got my paint gun dialed in.... and took off and sanded the grille then did 2 coats of primer ... heres what i have so far...

waiting for my new headlights in the mail too... should be here friday i hope!!!

Question tho how do you pop off the handles and possibly the mirrors? i want to paint those too but am scared to try and just paint them on the car....also is it okay to drive the hoe with the grille off like not far but like a couple 10 min trips..

What did you do for prep work to get that fake chrome crap off before you sprayed. I want to do this to both my Denali and my yukon. Denali grill is cracked and needs replaced so I thought I'd practice on it.

i just cleaned it with some water got off all dust dirt oil... then took some 220 and went to town on it thats pretty much it ...

Did you sand it down to black plastic so all that chrome film crap was off or just rough it up?

i just sanded it down till chrome was off it was like a flat silver color i didnt want to go down any farther
i hate sanding lol took like 15-20 mins

just ordered the paint match grey for my truck, gonna go the emblem first and then maybe my billet grille. seems like thats gonna be a crap load of sanding for all those lil circles:emotions122:
