Well I've owned my Tahoe for about 2 months and I always had a slight scraping while I was driving coming from the rear brakes. The pads were fine, I checked both and the parking brake held. Yesterday I had to pull an azelia uot and used the tahoe. I hooked it up, put it in N, put the t-case in 4lo, then put it in 1st gear....I forgot the parking brake was on. I didnt go very far but I did notice it, and pulled it off. The parking brake seemed fine yesterday. Today I heard a little click, when I released it and not it takes less effort and I am able to get it to go to the floor. I am familiar with the one piece design that the brake shoe has. The good news is that the scraping sound is gone. I did a search and came up with the 00-03 tahoes, silverado's and other gm trucks had issues with the brake slightly grinding on the parking brake drum. Was that resolved by 05? The remedy was a different clip iirc. Anyone have any idea if it was just a coincidence that the parking brake decided to get funny after leaving it on in 4lo for a very short time, or did that do damage? Also it seems that I can get it to grab a little better after backing up. All help is appreciated.
thanks,
Kevin

For anyone that experiences this, the problem was that the friction material separated off of the driverside brake shoe. Threw a new set of parking brake shoes (wow, more expensive then I thought... $85!) on the tahoe, cleaned up the rotor/drum combo, adjusted the brakes and put it all back together. It holds great!.

Thanks Oak510...btw where did you get that push bar from? I dont like the look of the westins or any of thosetypes, I'd like something more functional that didnt hang super low. Is that a police push bar??
Thanks,
Kevin
