Well I've owned my Tahoe for about 2 months and I always had a slight scraping while I was driving coming from the rear brakes. The pads were fine, I checked both and the parking brake held. Yesterday I had to pull an azelia uot and used the tahoe. I hooked it up, put it in N, put the t-case in 4lo, then put it in 1st gear....I forgot the parking brake was on. I didnt go very far but I did notice it, and pulled it off. The parking brake seemed fine yesterday. Today I heard a little click, when I released it and not it takes less effort and I am able to get it to go to the floor. I am familiar with the one piece design that the brake shoe has. The good news is that the scraping sound is gone. I did a search and came up with the 00-03 tahoes, silverado's and other gm trucks had issues with the brake slightly grinding on the parking brake drum. Was that resolved by 05? The remedy was a different clip iirc. Anyone have any idea if it was just a coincidence that the parking brake decided to get funny after leaving it on in 4lo for a very short time, or did that do damage? Also it seems that I can get it to grab a little better after backing up. All help is appreciated.
thanks,
Kevin
