2007 Tahoe 5.3 (recently rebuilt). With the engine idling I can open the front passenger door and engine shuts off/ loses all gauges. Anyone ever experience this?
well this is a new one, I would have to guess there is a pinched wire harness somewhere, I would suggest closely inspecting all the wiring.
if you have a tech2 or access to one it is pretty good at showing wiring faults, it may reveal it as a "short to ground" when a full scan of systems is performed.

There is some kind of sensor communication/computer control between sensor in seat (whether someone is sitting) & door open condition & ignition switch position in my 2003 Tahoe. Maybe the problem has something to do with seat wiring, etc. Also check main computer connectors for complete engagement or corrosion.

It’s pretty common to have a pinched or separated wire in the door now. Check YouTube on how to pull the panel.

The motor turn off scenario is really strange , but cool in a way. If you had a push button ignition you’ll be ball’n.

Do fix it asap. If the motor shuts off while driving you lose your brakes & steering. Both will still work but no amount of muscle will change your speed or direction.

Ask me how I know traveling at 50 mph with 5 kids going down a highway off-ramp to a red light in a Yukon XL Denali
