Haven't towed with the denali yet. Just got it 2 weeks ago. That's why I am making plans for next spring when tow time starts back up.

Also I thought the denali had a trans cooler from factory?

if you buy a trany before the other goes out perhaps you can strike a better deal especially if you need your truck for everyday use. Make sure your new trany is up to what ever mods you have in mind. Tranys have a mind of their own and go out when they want to. Remember no flushes to you present one unless you are ready for a new one. Don't want to break a bunch of contaminate loose with flushes and additives.

I don't know that I'd do that unless it was a cheap low mile used unit to have around as a temporary or a core trade in on a rebuild.

I can't see spending a good chunk of change for a quality rebuild then having it lay around for maybe a couple of years before installing it. If you got a bad rebuild which occasionally happens you likely won't have any recourse and end up spending the money a third time for another rebuild.

I'm dealing with that now on my 05, the tranny has lost engagement twice on me over the last few hundred miles (weekend driver only) and I'm thinking a core to try rebuilding myself so that when it does go I'll have a new one to drop in. But I'm looking at less than $1000 between the core and parts if I do it myself.
