worth every penny I should have got my BlackBear tune sooner ;)
..seriously, in order to get the most performance out of all your upgrades you'll want to get some kind of tune

Since you are on a pretty low budget i would say a handheld tuner...they can be had anywhere from 325-400 bucks depending on brand. You can also try a throttle body spacer..at under 100 bucks but who knows if you will ever really see a gain from them. You could lok into throttle bodies as well..at about 375 bucks though, i would rather have a tuner.

On a side note, does BlackBear use a handheld downloadable tuner? Or just custom dyno tunes?

Throttle body spacer are useless on these trucks. And the Black bear tune is cheaper than 400 unless they raised prices since I did mine.

I think they are working on a handheld tuner but you just record your data on your computer or his if you do an in person and go from there. Way deeper than a tuner and more for you money imo

they do a cable tune, but if you don't have a ton of mods, a traditional tune will suffice.

gears and converter, then tune.

Elaborate on converter? Are you talking about bumpin' up the stall?

What can you guys tell me about this BB tune? Who are they? Where are they located at? What exactly is involved?

I'm about to start trickin' the '03 Yukon out, and I've been wondering about this "tuning" I keep hearing about.

My plan was to do Intake, exhaust, maybe some gears and a shift kit. Other than that, I'm not really sure what my "smart" options are for this truck. I'm sure there are plenty though!

Also, what's the deal with with the "steering stabilizer" mod. I'd like to know more about that! I hate the sloppy steering!

Thanks in advance for any/all helpful info!!!

yes a perfect stall range for these is about 2500-3500. Yank and Precision make great stalls.

BB tune: best mod I have done, period. It makes the tranny shift firmer, no sloppy shifts, raises top speed, and removed some torque management. It's like having a 2 barrel on a 350, then going to a 4 barrel. :)
They have their own link on this site, PM Haley or Jenna for more info.

Do your CAI, replace mufffler if you want. No need for cat-back. The stock pipe is ample, just replace the muffler. Then, if you want to swap gears, do that before tune. That will really wake up the 'seat of the pants' off line power. Then, have it tuned. tune will need gears in place to reset speedo.
