Yeah, smart move. Here's my question. How do you keep masking the same line 3 times? Why not paint the stripe first wider than you know it's gonna be and then tape that off once where your want it and just peel to reveal at the end?

ok, almost done. So, Sunday we actually took my buddies car into Phoenix and watched the Cardinals lose at the Glendale Stadium just to relax from paint hell.
When i got home, i couldnt help myself and started peeling off all the masking

Yes there's plenty of orange peel but thats expected. Gotta wait at least 30 days before it can be wet sanded and buffed anyways

a few reasons.
a Pro might have done it differently but this is why i did it that way.

1. i used the best tape i could buy and it gave me time to keep trying to get those lines with a perfect curve without my greasy hands touching fresh paint. You cant touch a paintable surface with fingertips because of the oil in your skin. (it seriously took so many tried to get it right and get the line to lay without any jitters)
2. i wanted a fat general area of tape to be able to apply the layers of multi-color masking to, without peeling off tape on paint. I would only be peeling weak tape off strong tape between each stage.
3. i knew the stripe would be done using rattle cans which do not adhere anywhere near as strong as auto paint shooting out of a gun at 40psi 7CFM. So ileft it as the last stage of color and knew it would be protected under 3 coats of clear.

so Monday (yesterday) after work i put it all back together in record time. Roof Rack, Bumper covers, front lip/defelctor etc etc..
Drove to get some dog food and snapped a couple pics out and about on her first maiden voyage.

the center of the billet grille lines up with all the points of the front end down to the lip

So how do you tape off the black and blue to paint the stripe without putting your mitts all over everything?

Funny my dads family and my brother all live in the Glendale and Phoenix areas. My bro loves to watch cardinals games at the Glendale stadium!
