What's wrong with the tailgate?

There was this odd fog inside the clearcoat. i thought it was moisture but a heat gun did nothing. It was the AZ sun baking the ass of my truck all day when i painted it. Unfortunately the only cure is to respray that

Had to go there tony.....its pete..... he’s gotta be perfect thats whats wrong......;) or not wrong

haha, naw. I always sorta strive for perfection, but NEVER quite hit it

What’s wrong with perfection ...err striving for excellence?

Perfection is the Goal, but being content with a good result, is cool too. This section just has to be redone. Wont be bad (i dont think)

might be a little hard to tell. but it's the foggy area right above the stripe in the black

I see it. Gotta do the whole gate from scratch? Can you get away with maybe wet sanding through the clear--carefully, then respray just the clear?

not from scratch. but, all the way down to the redoing the black

Yeah, what's the plan, Pete?

Contamination. Its just in the black?

there's no way to Only get through the clearcoat on wetsanding without slightly getting INTO the black. So i basically am scuffing the whole gate, but taping from the line up and spraying the black basecoat area, then i will re-clear the whole tailgate so i dont have tapelines

Sounds like a plan. Good luck.
