nothing to see here, just a bunch of prep/sanding pics

my 43 year old body and arms are sore as hell, haha

i just laid on the roof and took my time laying in the water as i sanded away

d290.jpg

d291.jpg

took off all the black plastics on the bumper.

just in case anyone is wondering how to remove these...

d292.jpg

don't just try and yank them off. lay on the ground and look up, you will see they are held in by these thick squeeze notches. i just squeezed them with a pliers and pushed them through until the two left and right top bumper plastics released.

d293.jpg

the lower bumper plastics are the same but they have the basic circle clip on the lowest bottom edge as well

d294.jpg

all off. gettin uglier by the hour :) sanded the back tailgate/bumpers

d295.jpg

and finally.. the whole drivers side has been wet-sanded

d296.jpg

threw a couple plugs/attachments on my Gun so i could test the CFM,, and these puppies throw out a mass amount of air and the compressor seems like she will keep up with me... So that was relieving. Yes, thats a beer. I think i drank 12 for everyone
:happy160:

So tomorrow i gotta remove the front lip. And then the final stage of bodywork which will be the scratches and imperfections on the front bumper and i gotta deep scratch / groove on the right rear i need to fill with bondo/glaze, prime the area's, then sand and sand some more.

I don't envy you Pete. I used to do bumper covers, and they suck to repair scratches, gouges etc.

Damn that’s a lot of work! Lol

haha, it sure is. this is why people rarely paint vehicles and why it costs so much to get a paint job. it's just all this pain in the a$$ prepping. The spraying part is fun as hell. The rest just sucks. Half of this stuff i was like, meh, i'll just tape it off. but if it came off easily enough, it'll pay off in a better result later.. i hope

slapped on a quick tape line just to get a visual in person

d299.jpg

these are my latest photoshop/mockups of where it's going.

Not sure how i am going to do the split line just yet, but everything else is pretty much set in stone. The top looks flat in these mockups, but it will be clear coated and shiny

Wait wait wait....can I change my choice? I like the second but with no orange. No blue ziz zag just black on top separated by the silver line with blue on bottom. So technically the first one without the blue ziz zag lol
