arent the esky moldings expensive, i have been wanting to do this to my kon for a while now but someone told me that your looking at $300 plus for the moldings

How did you figure out where to put them?

Fairly easy , just mark the top your original mold (3points should enough) I just blue taped the top and the esky mold will follow your guide points . Number one tip : TAKE YOUR TIME, cause once the double side tape on the esky touches you paint consider it stuck on lol
