There are other changes. Per Tire Rack, the new tire has improved traction, handling dynamics, and steering feel. I have a set of each and I also think the new version rides a little bit better. I think the new one looks less “old truck tire,” which seems to be the only complaint people can find about the Defender.

Hard to see much difference in “look” on low profile tires on 22” rims. I personally prefer the look of more tire on a 20” wheel and would expect the bigger tires on 20” wheel to “ride” better. I gotta say my 2024 Tahoe with 22” wheels rides very nice but I will definitely be replacing the Brigestones once they start to show wear. I have always had great experience with Michelin and as one of the other posters mentioned Michelin performance stays close to new throughout the lifetime of the tire. One of the few brands that feels like new after 30k miles

I notice differences. For instance, I don't want much of the tread profile wrapping around to the sidewall of the tire. Some people who are after a more-aggressive/off-road look might seek that out, but that look isn't for me on my truck.

Ended up going with the Pirelli's at Sams club. They were 50.00 a tire cheaper than Defenders, had a 100.00 a set rebate, and free installation/balance.
VS Discount tire they were 600.00 cheaper than if I bought defenders. Discount is getting too big for their britches, charging 92.00 for installation and 258.00 for repair/replacement certificates on their quote. Both were free/included at Sams....

Do you have 22” wheels? If so, can you post some pics? I have no regrets going with the Defenders but still curious to see how the Pirelli’s look.

Overall very happy.... much smoother ride and not near as harsh..You can just tell a quality tire. Will get a good bath soon but raining quite a bit lately!
Sam's club did an excellent job, 3 men ganged up on it with 2 changers and balancers and I was out of there in 35 min. All in for 1180.00 out the door with 4-year replacement certificates.

Pirelli AS plus 3 tires rock! They were amazing on my prior VW Touareg...summer and winter driving. Good looking too.
The 275/60R20 Continental Cross Contact LX 20's SUCK !! That came stock on my 2022 Yukon SLE. I have 35,*** miles on them and they are very worn already in my opinion. That's with tire rotations when I get oil changes as well. I'll be getting the MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX M/S2 to replace those other garbage tires very soon. Hoping to catch a rebate savings before pulling the trigger. Had the Michelins LTX Defenders before on a 2016 Tahoe LTZ that I thought were the best tires I've ever rolled. The factory installed size was 275/60 R20 I am thinking of going with 285/55 R20 instead just to achieve an ever so slightly lower side wall, and be a smidge wider though it probably won't be that noticeable.
