I've got a 2002 Tahoe LT that has had the piston slap on a very cold start up and start up after a long trip since I've owned it new. It has 160K on it now and the noise is the same. What is the preferred way to deal with the slap? Ignore it? New pistons at some point in time? Is there a kit for a bottom end rebuild that will take care of the noise? Thanks

try premium gas it didnt eliminate mine but greatly reduced it. and no you not get a power gain unless your hoe is tuned for it.

PIston Slap has nothing to do with the Octane of the fuel... the piston rocks in the bore... Just let it be. To fix it you have to rip the motor down, hone the cylinder and replace the rings and possibly the piston. Its been fine for 160k.. let it be.

Premium gas? This is a heat/cold issue between two different metals.
