I am again considering the idea of a full dip, but am considered about its durability. How well does it stack up to tree branches? I'm not talking driving into a tree, but some solid scratch action that would leave a mark on paint.

Let's say it does leave a mark, or a rock comes up and makes a mark and/or tear. How do you go about touching it up? Does it require a redo of the panel, or is it possible to spray or rattle can or even rub on some supplemental layers?

Thanks!

after this little incident a few months ago were i had to dodge someone that was attempting to pass another car in the oncoming lane on a two lane highway
basically i had to swerve off into the brush to avoid a head on collision
well this brush was mostly cacti really dry shrubs and trees and everything like the bumper the grill the side mirror that was dipped the dip took the brunt of everything and totally saved those parts unfortunatly my paintjob wich was not dipped got pretty scratched up so i wish i had my whole car dipped becuase if i did my factory paintjob wouldnt have a scratch on it so as long as you do like 4 or 5 coats the dip can be very affective for protecting for example your factorry paint job while your offroading

Get some dip guard from dipyourcar. it is an anti-marring spray.

Looked into this, actually called Dip Coat. Seems cheap and easy enough to at least try, thanks!

I'm mostly doing this as an alternative to repainting, but you're right, it would still save parts (like the bumpers and certain panels) that are still in great condition. Thanks for the input.

Leaning back towards this option again. I just don't care to be under a car payment, but am absolutely sick of maintaining black paint.

PlasticDip holds up surprisingly well in those conditions. And touch up if necessary is incredibly easy.

It is not of course what I would call a permanent solution, but I had a grille dipped for years with no issues.
