So today I received my kit Morimoto H11 5500k HID kit w/ relay harness from The Retrofit Source and decided to install them since I had some free time after work. I installed the kit, and turned on the headlights, but only the passenger side fires and lights up. The driver's side ignites and then immediately shuts off each time the headlights are turned on. If I unplug the ballast while the headlights are switched on and then plug it back in, I get the same result. A slight flicker of the driver's side bulb and then off. I thought maybe I had a bad ballast or bulb on this side, so I switched them from one side to the other. Same result. The problem remains on the driver's side only. So then I thought bad ground on this side. Nope! Wired the kit straight to the battery and same thing happens. One fires and the other doesn't.

Then I wondered if something was wrong with the relays or relay harness, so I eliminated it just for troubleshooting and wired the ballasts directly to the factory headlight plugs on each side. Got the same result of only one side working, but this time it was the passenger side that didn't work and the driver's side worked just fine. Weird!

I'm stumped. Called The Retrofit Source and they're also stumped. Anyone have any similar issues installing an HID kit w/ relay harness on their NNBS? Any wiring guru's on here that have any suggestions? Or is there some trick that applies to NNBS trucks that I don't know about when it comes to installing HID's on our trucks? I thought I had it made ordering a better quality kit from TRS and had an easy install ahead of me, but, apparently not. I'd appreciate anyone's input or advice!

ETA: I've also gone over each and every connection and all seem to be making contact just fine. No loose or bad connections anywhere.

better ground on both sides

As I mentioned, thought this could've been the problem, but I wired the kit directly to the battery and got the same result. Doesn't get much better than getting both hot and ground right from the battery, but it didn't change anything.

So have you found a resolution, Felix? I'm kinda pissed that its not working! I don't believe its a problem with the kit, I think its maybe a voltage issue with our trucks or something. I don't know. Seems like we're the only two with this problem because I know tons of NNBS guys with HID's and theirs are trouble free. :(

I did mine in my 2015+ but have the same issue. All bulbs and ballasts work ONLY on the passenger side. If I unhook relay on driver non working side it will work until car turns on then it starts flickering. My troubleshooting is telling me it's a bad HD relay cable.

I thought about the relay harness possibly being bad, but I bypassed it by hooking each ballast directly into each factory headlight socket(essentially making it like the older kits w/o relay harnesses) and got the same result, but the problem switched sides. When hooked up this way, the driver's side now works, but not the passenger side. Exactly the opposite of how it functions when using the relay harness. Its really odd. I've racked my brain, but haven't figured it out. Yet...

Let me know if you find a solution or even if you decide to replace the relay harness and it happens to resolve the issue. I'd really like to get mine working!

I'm hoping TRS sends me a new HD relay and that really is the problem. If that's not it I have no idea what else it could be...

TRS support replied to me saying to take out the individual relay in the cube on the HD Relay harness and switch them to see if it's the actual relay itself or the cable. It's something I didn't troubleshoot because I didn't know you could take them individually out.

They said one capacitor should be enough.
