Higher top speed (via a shorter differential gear), bigger brakes, and a lower stance. That's about it. A few other minor electrical changes to support the extra gear, but nothing that benefits performance.

Mine has the code for 4.10 gears I can surely tell a difference in the get up and go and could care less about top speed so wouldn't know for sure. Mines the other PPV, the 4x4 version cant remember what they are called. Also not sure how much that makes a difference with performance compared to the PPV. Again sorry I cant remember the code for 4.10 gears but there is a thread in the tech forum with all the codes listed. Check your glove box and then compare to see what you got for codes.

The 4x4 version is called the SSV. Our neighboring FD uses the SSV Suburbans, they seem to love them. I agree with you on the top speed - even in an emergency response I can't imagine a situation where I could get to 140 mph with "due regard."

The PPV also has an option for a locking rear differential - mine has it, and I didn't realize it had it....surprised me the first time it kicked in!

not sure about bigger brakes ...

The brakes on the PPV have a few special features. The calipers have high temperature seals, and the pistons are larger than the standard tahoe. The OD of the rotors is larger as well. Additionally, the pads themselves are thicker, extending the service interval.

When i bought mine, the carfax said "government vehicle", all others at the lot stated police vehicle on the carfax. One of the reasons i bought it, but anyways, it says a regular 5.3 V8 but for some reason it seems to have a little more power than other Tahoes ive driven. I thought only the SSV had upgrades, but who knows what kind of undocumented upgrades they may have... i still cant tell if it was actually a police vehicle or not...
I did have a big time issue with the wiring harness, whole thing fried because whoever took out the alarm/cop lights did a horseshit job. Everything had to be completely rewired.
Truck has been having intermittent starting problems now. Randomly won't start. I let it sit for a few hours or overnight and then bam it starts. My battery was shit, so i replaced it. Was good for a few weeks, but then it happen a couple days ago. I was at home so I let it sit overnight and then in the morning I went to start it. it almost didnt catch but i floored the gas and it caught. Had starter tested, all good. Was good all day until it sat for about 4 hours, then same thing, wouldn't start. I popped the hood, and noticed the thin red wire on the positive post (is this the ignition wire or starter wire?) was in bad condition. I unplugged the terminal, grabbed some electrical tape, and put the terminal, thin red wire, and nut back together. Went to start up, and only did again because i floored it... my question is 1) what is that little red wire and 2) is that the issue or could it possibly be the fuel pump since I have to gas it in order to get er goin, or maybe a security system from the old "government agency". I attached a picture of the wire in question

@Todd McCain just follow that wire. All your ignitions stuff goes to the box on the firewall and then splits, nothing of importance it as the battery other than the obvious. Also look around the areas that they may have left something behind, things like inverters or aftermarket relays, switches anything that doesn't look factory. If they did leave something behind then it could be draining that battery into a ground somewhere. Just like leaving your lights on over night. If you bought if from an auction I would weigh on the fact they they don't do as good as a job tearing things apart and properly testing as MOST dealers would do. I say most bc you do get the bad ones that don't care and get these things dirt cheap then make them look pretty and don't get the whole truck run through properly before putting it up for sale. Then only to charge full book price at that. Kills me. Anyways good luck.

My 09 Z56 PPV had an issue where it would just go dead after I pulled up somewhere. I found that the Negative battery cable had a bad crimp at the battery terminal. I used a propane touch and electrical flux solder and soldered the connection no more issues.
Check your grounds at the engine block and body as well.

One other thing my Tahoe has a 3:73 gear and no Posi G80

I have seen MULTIPLE tahoes, Yukons, and Escalades with bad crimps on both the positive and negative battery terminals where the wire is connected to the terminals and connectors causing no start issues as well as as litany of other electrical issues. CHECK THE CONNECTIONS FIRST!
