When i bought mine, the carfax said "government vehicle", all others at the lot stated police vehicle on the carfax. One of the reasons i bought it, but anyways, it says a regular 5.3 V8 but for some reason it seems to have a little more power than other Tahoes ive driven. I thought only the SSV had upgrades, but who knows what kind of undocumented upgrades they may have... i still cant tell if it was actually a police vehicle or not...
I did have a big time issue with the wiring harness, whole thing fried because whoever took out the alarm/cop lights did a horseshit job. Everything had to be completely rewired.
Truck has been having intermittent starting problems now. Randomly won't start. I let it sit for a few hours or overnight and then bam it starts. My battery was shit, so i replaced it. Was good for a few weeks, but then it happen a couple days ago. I was at home so I let it sit overnight and then in the morning I went to start it. it almost didnt catch but i floored the gas and it caught. Had starter tested, all good. Was good all day until it sat for about 4 hours, then same thing, wouldn't start. I popped the hood, and noticed the thin red wire on the positive post (is this the ignition wire or starter wire?) was in bad condition. I unplugged the terminal, grabbed some electrical tape, and put the terminal, thin red wire, and nut back together. Went to start up, and only did again because i floored it... my question is 1) what is that little red wire and 2) is that the issue or could it possibly be the fuel pump since I have to gas it in order to get er goin, or maybe a security system from the old "government agency". I attached a picture of the wire in question
