I've got the stock beater 16" wheels on the hoe. I've seen them polished on a few trucks. Was that a factory thing or did the owners do it? I've got some pretty severe corrosion from wheel weights on one or two of my wheels but they are otherwise damage free. Giving them a polish might be a cheap way to bling them up a bit. I've polished a bunch of bike stuff (including wheels) and know the maintance required (its miserable) so that is my primary hesitation.... The centers are plastic- how did they polish them??? It'd look a bit jakey I think to have the wheel polished with the plain center....

(BTW- I thought I wanted the stock polished 20's that were on my 08 LT, but that truck rode lousy and the tires were crazy expensive so I've decided not to go that way, mostly for the $1K in tires)

John there are two or three versions of the saw blad wheels and there are three different center caps to match. When I get my 2001 Tahoe I got her new and they offered me the wheels in chrome, polished and the way yours are.

OK, thanks. It'd be smarter for me to look for a factory polished set if I wanted to go that way. I've only seen a few like that so didn't think it was a factory option.

sorry man- shipping from coast to coast would not be worth it just for factory wheels.

those are easy wheels to polish you can start by sanding the faces to get rid of the clear coat then graduate your sand paper size eventually getting to a 600 grit wet sand then use #0000 steel wool for a final rub before taking the aluminum polish and buffer to them. on the center caps try using some paint stripper to get rid of the clear then polish by hand. i just polished up a set of factory 05 wheels and thats how i did it and they look pretty good

I did a complete detail and polish on my 96 ZX-9R, wheels, frame, everything and it was show quality. But the maintenance was a *****- and that was on a motorycle that didn't get out much. I can't imagine the upkeep on a set of daily driver wheels.
