What bowtie said. The front case is too weak to support it. For the 2500 IFS trucks, you can run a locker in front, but the cost for doing so is expensive. And it's limited With our factory IFS, we are really limited to what we can do as far as lockers and gear choices up front.

Now the NBS and NNBS must have a better front end and have an option to have a front locker right?? Or are we all screwed into going SAS??

OBS and NBS 1500's run torsion bar IFS with the 8.25 front differential. The NNBS trucks use the same differential but have coil springs front. No torsion bar's on the NNBS 1500's

OBS NBS and NNBS 2500's run the 9.25 IFS differential and are all torsion bar. The 2011+ 2500's and 3500's have a different differential design. The 2011's now have a cover on the front differential (similar to a Solid Axle) but still IFS. I actually really like the new differential, I'm hoping GM at least transfers that into their 1500's at some point. Seems like a much better system for servicing them at least.

Due to frame issues, you CAN NOT swap a 2500 IFS differential into a 1500 truck. It's been looked into a few times. It takes too much work to do so. You would be better off with a SAS anyways

I know there is a actually term for their new differential design. Somebody help me out with it, I can't think of it for some reason lol
