Hello-
I have a 2006 Tahoe that is acting up this morning. No previous problems. When we started driving to work this morning the car was struggling to drive like the parking break was one. No engine lights or weird sounds. First gear seems to work normal as well as second, but once I put it into 3rd or Drive it doesn't want to accelerate hardly. I am guessing it is the transmission since it revs freely driving in first so it can't be a fuel delivery problem. Trans fluid is normal, smells fine. Any thoughts? No previous problems with this car.

Had the tranny flushed about 5k ago, nothing unusual there. Normal amount of material in the pan, no issues before that or immediately after. Fluid was correct and is at the right amount. I had a bad converter on my F250 and I had problems in every gear so I don't the converter is bad. Only happens in drive and 3rd. Maybe the clutches are bad. Could a bad speed sensor cause this?

Clean your MAF and throttle body. Make sure you can rule that out before tearing into your drivetrain.

So transmission problems are out of my skill range for repair. Dropped it off at a trusted mechanic, he said it is defaulting into second gear. Could be a possible electrical fault and he is trying to track it down.

Update. The wire harness connector was loose and dirty, he cleaned it out and its running like a champ, plus a new seal on the back since it was leaking. Have 105k on the 06. I wonder how many repair shops would have tried to sell me a new tranny?

Hey GangstaCowboy - which wire harness was causing the issue? I've had a similar intermittent issue, and would like to check the connection on mine.
