So as I posted in an earlier thread, I tore down the top end of the motor to replace a bad lifter that was squealing. So the issue was in cylinder number 8. That lifter was definitely failing but on the bright side it did not damage the cam at all. I installed my new LSX lifters and brand new hardened chromoly push rods. Had the heads resurfaced and completely cleaned. Used ARP bolts to install the heads. Tightened the rockers and all the other bolts for that matter, to factory specs. Changed the oil and fired it up. The lifter squeal is gone and a pesky misfire in cylinder one is also gone. The only problem I have now, is that the throttle body might be out of whack. So when I'm sitting at idle and I rev the motor to about four and a half to 5K, the motor winds down and holds at 2K on its own for about 30 seconds. Then it comes down to idle. I've also noticed that when driving, sometimes the idle jumps around. Is it possible that my throttle body took a crap? Or do I have to have it relearned? I know the TPS is built into it. I did clean it out and I'm wondering if that through the values off...
Just to be clear, when I rev the engine over 4K and take my foot off the gas, the RPMs come down and hold at 2K for about 30 seconds. After that they slowly come down to idle.
I also threw a p0011 code. But I think that's because I was driving around with about 5 quarts of oil after the oil change while testing.
Another little side note. The headers are not bolted down completely so I do have an exhaust leak on both Banks. The reason for this is that I bought headers but was unable to unbolt the stock headers from the flanges. The truck is going in tomorrow to the shop to have them replaced which will eliminate the exhaust leak.
As always, any and all help greatly appreciated!!
