My 1998 Tahoe two door has a power lock issue. The locks go on and off independently, and now the key fob does not work. The locks will go on and off including opening the rear hatch while the vehicle is sitting. On and off repeatedly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I just joined today.

I forget where exactly but there is supposed to be a power door lock reley in the dash. Perhaps it messed with the radio install?

I recomended small fuses becuase if it shorts out as soon as you plug it in I was concerned that with high amp fuses that it may stress the wire to much and too many times with those high amps and may eventually cause a fire.

When the problem gets fixed where it does not blow any more I would be safer to go back to the original fuse.

Just trying to find a safe way.
I keep an old incandescent headlight with leads attched to high beam and ground on the light. Put the appropriate spades on the other end and use the headlight instead of the fuse. It is great, if the short remains the headlight is lit up, when you disconnect the bad component the light goes out. It pulls fair but not excessive current. You can use the steady current for voltage drop testing if you are a more advanced electrical troubleshooter.
