Power locks don't work

You have an aftermarket alarm or remote start if your locks are doing that. That's not a setting in the factory locks. The factory automatic locks will lock the doors when you get up to 20mph. You need to find out what kind of alarm or remote start you have and look up the programming settings to disable the auto lock with ignition feature.

Thanks for your reply. Are you saying the factory system doesn't have this capability? Because in my manual it explains there are 3 modes for the auto lock and 4 for the unlock.. including disabling the automatic for manual use only. currently, they lock upon start up, and if I take it out of gear, and put it back into park, they then unlock. As I stated earlier, I get into service mode, and do the whole shabang, and get the desired amount of chimes indicating the lock mode the manual describes for that amount of chimes..

I honestly do not know if my security has been tampered with.. bought it used the other day and have been doing little things here and there and this feature is annoying me.. Im pretty sure the locks are not suppose to act like that..

Agreed with Scotty. Mine is set to lock at 5 mph but mine is an 07 but I had a 2000 with the same feature. It was a setting done at the DIC on the dash though. Do you have the owners manual? If so did it mention setting them the way you mentioned? Might be a good idea to get the lowest Onstar so they can open it remotely. If you just got the truck you can usually get a 30 day trial. I have it just for this reason.

This not intended to be snarky, so please accept my apologies if it reads that way. But you can get key copies made for a couple bucks at Home Depot / Lowes. Is OnStar cheaper than that?

(getting key copies was the FIRST thing I did after getting the wife's Tahoe home)

Depends if your key has a chip. If not heck no Onstar isn't cheaper. If it does then yes. The bigger question besides fixing the problem is if you have to remember an extra key ring what's the point. Every car thief knows about hidden keys. Ever see anyone walking around a parking lot with what looks like a cane? It has a mirror on the end looking for hidden keys. My dog locked me out when I was in the middle of nowhere. One call truck unlocks. Just a suggestion

You don't need a chip to unlock the door... That said, I think chips weren't added to our keys until 2007 (though I don't claim to be the expert there); I do know my 2005 isn't chipped.

Add to this that you could get one of those plasric, credit card keys and carry it in your wallet.

To be clear, not poo-pooling OnStar, just offering alternatives.

Maybe the OP could take a picture of his steering wheel so we could verify whether or not he can access the Driver's Information Center?

I read the manual over and over again. following everything to a T! I hear the desired amount of chimes for disabling the locks and everything, I take it out of service mode, but it still auto locks as if I didn't do anything. I have also made the change in the console settings, same results.. Do you think it might have something to do with my security system?

I dont want to deal with the whole onstar thing.. I'm sure there is a way to fix this

also, the 04 yukon does not have a chip in the key. i think 92-05 were made without..

I have the DIC option, Ive gone into it and turned the lock system to manual, but they still automatically lock. my biggest complaint is they lock immediately after the vehicle is started, not even touching the shifter yet.
