Chasing down leaks on my 1997 Tahoe 2 door with 98K miles.
Replaced the leaking water pump and leaking Power Steering pump this weekend.
Had to transfer the Variable speed fitting from my original P/S pump to my rebuilt replacement P/S pump ; no new O-ring was used just swapped it straight out.

Now it looks like I have a small leak coming from this fitting.

I know that this fitting has been replaced by a U shaped hardline by GM but I'd rather keep the variable assist steering.
Is there a rebuild kit available for this fitting or does anyone have a lead on where I could get one?
Thanks,
Tbruz

unknown at this time.
Who says it is not available compnine does not actually check dealers stock and some might still have some around.
Google the part number with gm and a space in front of it: gm 26020642 for web results

Variable assist blows and at times unpredectable...go with changing it.

But you can get the rebuild kit from gmpartsdirect.com or rockauto.com

I have that U shaped piece from GM, brand new and still with instructions. I was originally going to delete the variable with my hydroboost setup, but I bought the HD power steering pump instead and don't need it anymore.

My local GM dealer told me the seal was NLA along with the pump assembly.
I have searched and will order per Sunlitcomets suggestion.

I have a second 1997 Tahoe that I replaced the worn out EVO actuator with the U shaped replacement; full assist all the time, feels fine at a standstill but terribly soft at highway speed; thats why I'm trying so hard to keep the EVO actuator.

Foreverfalcon40 would you know rebuild kit p/n?
Thanks to all for your help.

Hmm..the part I have is supposed to disengage the variable assist...at least that's what a few of the individuals I spoke to stated.

Sparg93, the U shaped hardline does disengae the variable assist; it gives you full assist ALL the time.
The EVO on the PS pump works along with the speed sensor on the steering column and gives you variable assist; Full assist at low speeds and less assist(firmer steering) at higher speed.
