Power window won't go up makes grinding noise going down and goes down very slow. I'm sure everything needs to be replaced. Does anyone know how hard this repair is? Assuming I need to replace all window components. I'm pretty good under the hood but no mechanic. 01 Tahoe.

Dorman window lift assembly with motor, less then $75 if I recall correctly. Remove door panel, cut hand on sharp edges removing old assembly. Install new assembly, replace door panel. An hour latter you'll be having a beer.....not hard at all....

Maybe I'll go for it myself. I'd hate to get half way thru and have to go crawling to my mechanic to finish what I couldn't. I'm pretty good at finishing beer though!!

I put a motor only in my passenger rear. Little awkward to get the screws in and out, and definitely cut my hand up a bit in the process. But I did it in the dark late one night so it's doable

Make sure before doing the window motor you tape the window to the pillar, or it'll fall inside the door when you're taking the motor apart and could really hurt you or cause you more problems .
