Thanks. However, I am looking for the clinch nuts, insert nuts, captive nuts (they have multiple names) - what the bolts screw into that is pressed into the wheel from the backside. But I appreciate you trying to help me.

Thought of something else to throw at the wall to see if it sticks. I've used these jack nuts on lawn mowers and they collapse the first time you tighten them, kind of like a molly fastener. You'd have to find the right thread size, and be short enough to not interfere with your wheel surfaces.

Thank you all very much. I went ahead and installed one of the (too thick) McMaster-Carr clinch nuts, tacked it in place, and ground it down flat enough so that it did not interfere with the wheel fitting flat against the hub. Well, at least I now know what to do if I ever encounter this issue again in the future. Again, thanks for your efforts to be of help.
