Pressing the brake pedal, brake lights ?

On my buddys tahoe. If he presses the brake pedal down as hard as possible the brake lights come on, but if he uses them like usual they will never come on. Any ideas guys?

bad or dirty switch or you can try to adjust it. the switch is not pressure sensitive it is travel sensitive

I've got aftermarket LEDs and have noticed that the brake light doesn't work (light up fine for turn and when parking lights are on)...the factory 3rd brake light (also LED) works fine. Any thoughts on that other than something internal to the aftermarket LEDs?

are they just bulbs or complete assemblys? if their only bulbs your going to need inline resistors on the brake lights.led's use much less power than a filament bulbs or you have them in wrong or wrong bulb

They are the assemblies... were working fine then all of a sudden, no brake lights. Then as suddenly as they stopped working, they were back, and then gone again, but no return.

your going to have to test the wires with the lights unplugged to isolate the problem

Are you referring to the LED assembly side or the vehicle harness side?

the truck side. if both dont work its probally the truck harness theres a plug behind the trailer hitch that gets messed up sometimes or if you have a trailer wire harness it could be that causing it too
