I always knew my 2003 hoe with the 4.8 was a fast asphalt burning machine but when i stopped at the red light today and the gauge says im still doing 30 mph i knew for sure i had a problem so im appealing to my fellow forum members to see if anyone has any suggestions on what to do or who to send it to... Thanks in advance

your stepper might be going bad. they're fairly easy to replace with simple soldering skills. we replaced all my brother-in-laws on his 03 not long ago. took us all of about 30 minutes or so.

It appears the needle is not making a smooth sweep up and down but rather appears to be "sticky" and is running 20-30mph faster than the actual speed

Sounds like the same thing. His RPMs needle would go all the way up and get stuck on the trim bezel. Changing the steppers should fix it. You can get em on ebay

Most of the sellers have a compatibility chart on their page that you can check. I bought 7 for $20 and replaced them all. Could've been my shotty soldering skills but it fixed them all except my gas gauge.
