Lawd...

Had a wheel come off my Buick at 35 in college because of a stripped lug. This dude is lucky to be alive.

When i was 19 I watched a tire and rim roll by me on the pkway i was on in my 79 monte carlo with keystone rims, the lug pattern was universal-ish and they had oval holes with oval washers, someone didnt tighten right front lugs and set the washers right (me) and by the time i realized it was my tire and rim the car dropped and i just had all i could do to kept that ***** on the road, i ended up in the grass off the shoulder......i needed a tow truck and new pair of drawers.....lmao now.....good times, good times

Worked at discount tire in Seattle for awhile , every single wheel and hub got hit with a wire brush. Wheels can and do fly off if this doesn't happen.
Moved up to Alaska and went to 5 different tire shops that wouldn't swap rims on my tahoe because they didn't fit.
I said it's tight but trust me they do fit, just wire brush the hubs and wheels and they'll fit. Every shop looked at me like I was crazy, non of them heard of wire brushing anything and didn't want the responsibility of wire brushing the wheels for who knows what reason. Hell one shop didn't even own a wire brush
Another shop the owner came out and said those wheels won't fit "because what you have here is a chevy tahoe and them there are nissan wheels". Ok take my money somewhere else, mind you I was buying tires to so it wasn't just a swap, I was spending money.

So I went home took my own wheels off and wire brushed and cleaned everything. Drove to a 6th shop and told them to swap my f**king wheels.

Doesn't stop there.
As I'm waiting for my truck to be finished I peek a seek of the progress. All 4 tires balanced and mounted and the white lettering facing out, I didn't want that. Always go black out unless specifically asked by customer. So they break down and remount and rebalance the tires and wheels with black lettering out

They tried again but with a closer look now i noticed that they left the nissan tps monitors in the wheels(I dont have tps, if i did how would nissan tps work with gm?) So I have to tell them to break down the tires again and remove them (at this point watching and babysitting), shop owner acted like it was my fault, so he charges me for basic black rubber valve stems(probably mad cause I can do his job better than he can). I was just there too long and I didn't care and bought the stems at $3 a piece (should be free)

To top it off while they're torquing down my wheels I ask what's it set at. The technician says 85 lbs. I said nope, that might be good for a honda civic but I know it needs to be higher around 135ish (nearly double).
He argues with me till I grab my owners manual, after searching the pages we find torque specs at 140, my guess of 135 was pretty damn close compared to his 85 lol
Then he says "wow that's the first time I've ever seen that much ft-lbs", which means every truck that's gone through that shop besides mine is way way way under torqued.:nono:
Another good way to have a wheel fly off and kill someone.

I wish I had the whole thing on video.

This is why I don't let anyone work on my truck... Can't trust anybody to know what they're doing.
I don't own a tire machine or else I would've most certainly done it myself. Doubt anyone else here owns one either. Just one of the few things that we have no choice but to let someone else touch our baby

Pictures look as if the assembly has been submerged for awhile, a long while, sure it has not been a flooded vehicle, dried and sold as is? I am in Canada and we have plenty of salt damage, but nothing as gross looking. Check other places for water damage.

Its not. Pretty common on older Hondas living here in New England.

I hate taking my car to the shop for anything. Tires included. I won't let anyone touch my car unless I watch. And I'm not a bit shy to correct aomeone. Last time I went to a tire shop they tried to start my lug nuts with an impact. I'm not trying to buy new studs or a new hub. So I made him stop he had a ******* attitude so I made his manager make him use a torque wrench on my lugs. I also had to teach this guy how to set a torque wrench and when to stop turning. He didn't understand the clicking. But, by the last wheel, he was a pro. He had the pattern right, torque set right and made sure the wheel was set on the hub correctly before tightening anything. I like to think I helped him.
